The Gallery Row Art Walk News (TheGRAWN) has been reporting on events, artists, eateries, coffee shops, grand openings & local heroes since 2009. TheGRAWN was created by Publisher Keri Freeman who has been recognized twice by the City of Los Angeles for the Arts and “for her efforts and devotion to making Los Angeles a better place”.
As writer and artist, Freeman devotes her time and talents to supporting the arts, creating TheGRAWN and providing reliable and affordable advertising for local businesses in the DTLA area. It is her ability to unite the community that has led The Gallery Row Art Walk News to become the number one community supported newsprint publication with over 20 writers,12 sponsors and 16 volunteers, in just a few short years.
TheGRAWN looks to the future of providing entertaining and informative stories about the Historic Core and its largest self guided tour in history, the Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk.
WRITE to US -or- WRITE for US: With Downtown Los Angeles fast becoming one of the nation’s premiere cities for work, live and play, The GRAWN team of local business owners, writers, columnist, poets and volunteers work together to seek out sponsorships, stories, and new ideas for each issue. Read TheGRAWN for an enlightened experience and enjoy the interaction offered to you by our columnists.
Popular column favorites are: Law Art with Tom O’leary, Health in the City, Monuments in Time & Poetry Place. Each column gives our readers a chance to interact, sending in their questions and comments that spark the columnist’s imagination. DISTRIBUTION:
TheGRAWN is mainly distributed in the Historic Core from 2nd and Broadway to 9th and Los Angeles, but you should not be surprised to find TheGRAWN in surrounding areas, adjacent cities, or even across the county, as it is carried out to far and distant lands by the many people who visit DTLA’s Historic Core on Art Walk, the second Thursday of Every Month.
In its humble beginnings TheGRAWN was to act as an event program for the DTLA Art Walk. During the event volunteer teams dress in Walk the Vote T-shirts and hand out product samples, answer questions, collect email addresses and distribute over 4000 copies of the Gallery Row Art Walk News. The remainder of the copies are re-stocked each week making it easy to find TheGRAWN in several drop off locations in the Historic Core.
Find TheGRAWN year round in almost every gallery, coffee shop, eatery, and apartment house in the Historic Core.
