Chris Paul was the floor General for the Los Angeles Clippers for six seasons; now he was a turncoat as he guided his new team, the Houston Rockets through a maze of secret tunnels into the Clippers locker room after the 113-102 Clippers victory.
Security, as well as the police, were called to remove the visiting Rockets including Paul, James Harden, Trevor Ariza and Gerald Green. The Rockets wanted to launch several shots at Blake Griffin and Austin Rivers.
At least it wasn’t Lavar Ball!
The Clippers have won four in a row- at (22-21) the team is cruising after a sluggish start.
Blake Griffin is having a Remarkable season, a Rennisance as the unquestioned leader. He scored 26 points and 10 rebounds- ruthlessly imposing his dominance and will over the soft Rockets defense.
Late in the 4th quarter, once the game was out of reach, the Rockets turned their frustration out on Griffin. Beating him up under the rim-before he was ejected along with Rockets Forward Trevor Ariza.
These teams have created the best soap opera in the NBA. More compelling than a telenovela is the on and off court antics.
It was a classless, dangerous and foolhardy decision for the Rockets to ambush the opposing team in their own locker room. The NBA has immediately opened an investigation into the incident.
What was Chris Paul thinking?
It is a huge black eye on his carefully cultivated image considering he is the President of the NBA Players Union.
On the court, the Clippers bench known as the Goon Squad was the X-factor in the game.Lou Williams poured in 20.
Funny enough that James Harden ( the Beard) couldn’t play due to a sprained ankle but had no problem hoofing it over to the Clippers locker room.
The scene is comical- Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley were busting up on TNT.
Why is there beef? Several reasons actually. First, Paul’s departure this off-season to join Houston. Next, Clippers Point Guard Austin Rivers divulged info on the strained relationship between Paul and Griffin.
Finally, the Rockets overcame a 3-1 deficit in the 2015 NBA Playoffs to send the Clippers home. Considering almost every player has worn both jerseys, it is bizarre.
The Clippers are showing true heart and pride. Somewhere Chuck the Condor is flying high these days.
