Yes, the rumors
are true.

The Turkey Trot is arriving in Downtown Los Angeles on Thanksgiving morning. For years, DTLA has been wondering, where on earth is the turkey and the people? The search is now over. People are getting ready.
The first Downtown Turkey Trot encourages its participants to choose from a 5kilometer or 10kilometer route through the historic streets of Downtown Los Angeles.
Thanksgiving day is known for being the largest running day of the year.
Downtowners have already had their hearts warmed by the Trot’s mascott, a giant turkey seen posted around town on the event promos. Visit the website http://www.turkeytrola.com to watch the giant animated turkey trot through the Downtown skyline.
The festivities include a post event in front of City Hall, costume contest, finisher medals, and American Apparel for sale. There’s no doubt people will have fun as they get creative with costumes, run teams, exercise and turkeys.
The 5k route starts in front of City Hall and loops around Grand Park. Participants will be treated to a historic course along Spring Street, referred to as the Wall Street of the West! You’ll past by such notable buildings as the Contintental Building (LA’s first skyscraper), The Hellman Bros’. Buildings, El Dorado Hotel, Crocker Bank and more. The course then takes runners west on 8th Street then north on Flower returning to City Hall/Grand Park for the finish – its an uphill finish!
The 10k route at 6.2 miles also starts at City Hall north towards the El Pueblo, China Town and to the Los Angeles State Historic Park only to U-Turn by the LA River.
.Runners do a loopty-loop around Grand Park’s festivities of cheering turkeys, back through the Historic Core, and then north on Flower to the uphill finish.
Generic Events, the company that puts on the Trot is a full service event production company that provides uplifting experiences.
Founded by two ambitious athletes with an entrepreneurial spirit Brennan and Michelle Lindner the Ryan Greene works with the two bringing grassroots marketing and social media efforts that flow very nicely creating an amazing vibe in the Generic Events offices in Santa Monica bringing people to learn that what happens at the finish line is more of a start than anything else.
The Trot is accepting donations to help support the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. The community is encouraged to bring non-perishable food down to the race. Ninety-seven percent of all monies raised by LA Regional Food Bank goes directly to programs to help feed the hungry.
